A groundbreaking program to put Missouri students on a fast-track to jobs in high-demand fields, without taking on debt, took a big step forward in North Kansas City yesterday when Gov. Jay Nixon joined local business and education leaders at the Cerner World Headquarters to celebrate the official designation of the Northland CAPS Innovation Campus. The ceremony also announced the awarding of a $450,000 grant to help fund the initiative, which gives students the opportunity to earn college credit while in high school and participate in internships at area businesses.
